What is this play about?
Know Thy Law the play part 2: Family Ties, is the second installment of a four part urban contemporary piece written, produced, and directed by George Trim. It is an adaptation of the sensational educational novel, 'Know Thy Law', and picks up the story from the Know Thy Law the play Part 1; which had its Off Off Broadway opening night on August 15, 2015 at The Producer's Club and its Off Broadway debut on October 17, 2015 at Kraine Theater. Know Thy Law 2: Family Ties will have its Off Off Broadway Opening Night on Thursday March 31st, 2016 at The Under St. Marks Theater.
The play picks up from where things ended in part 1. The spirits of Malcolm X (Jason Morris) and Medgar Evers (Benjamin Snipes) are back with a new mission from heaven, to teach Andy the importance of keeping strong family ties together. After there first encounter, Andy (Darek Black) is now a successful lawyer with a perfect criminal defense record, back with his long time girlfriend Venus (Precious Coleman), separated from his longtime friend and new leader of the Kushite Kings, Enigma (Marceau Kollie) and has a pending $15,000,000 lawsuit settlement that he won while defending ex Kushite King member Dumar (Reuben Hoyle IV). This play is about the importance of keeping those around you who were there from day one
George Trim is a Writer, Producer, Director and Public School teacher from New York City. George uses realistically diverse scenarios to educate the masses. Manumitted Minds was established in 2015, with the intention of educating yet, empowering the audience. All while showing the audience what happens to people from "the wrong side of the tracks."
