The stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning film “Shakespeare in Love” will have its North American premiere as part of the 2016 season at the Stratford Festival in Ontario, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Based on the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard and adapted for the stage by Lee Hall, the romantic comedy about a young Shakespeare had its premiere in a high-profile commercial production on London’s West End last July. (It closed in April.) Declan Donnellan, who directed the show there, will reprise his role at Stratford. Casting is to be announced.
