Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, the FBI files of Bertolt Brecht are public and all 369 pages can be viewed here. While much of the stuff isn't thrilling and is mostly predictable (i.e. Brecht was being watched for his affinities to communism) there are some really interesting tid bits. For example, very early in the file there is a letter from J. Edgar Hoover himself authorizing the release of the file to the US Attorney in the region to see if Brecht should be arrested.
